Russia 1992

In August 1992, a group of Canadians were the first scientific delegation to officially visit the world renowned TINRO-Centre in Valdivostok.  Prior to this visit TINRO was closed to foreigners.  Included in the delegation was Dr. W. E. Ricker probably Canada's most famous fisheries scientist and one of the most famous in the world.  The visit included a trip to the fisheries center in Petropavlovsk Kamachatsky.  
The first official presentation by a foreign scientist at TINRO was in August 1992 by Dr W. E. Ricker describing the development of the famous "Ricker Curve".

The delegation prepares to fly to Kurile Lake on the Kamchatka Peninsula. Kruile Lake is a crater lake at the Southern tip of Kamchatka and is the most productive Sockeye salmon lake in the world.
